Archival note: earlier on this same day we had removed Lirum Device Info from sale after widespread crashes on iOS 9; this post marked its return to the App Store just hours later. The model identifiers listed above mattered because 2015 was the year Apple dual-sourced the A9 chip between Samsung and TSMC, and the main screen of Lirum Info was a quick way to tell which variant an iPhone 6S or 6S Plus carried at the height of that debate. The app is still available on the App Store, and the full device reference database that eventually replaced these manual lists is documented at docs.lirumlabs.com.
